In 2008 the CCCS and CCCTG
revised the practice guideline committee to meet the current
needs of knowledge translation. This new knowledge translation
committee is headed by Dr. John Muscadere and Dr. Taz Sinuff.
This committee will be responsible for the development implementation
and evaluation of clinical practice guidelines for use by
members of the CCCS.
The functions of the Committee
are to:
* Communicate to members of the CCCS a definition of clinical
practice guidelines and the current state of knowledge about
the utility of practice guidelines in the critical care
setting;
* Identify and prioritize critical care topics that may
be desirable for guideline development and/or implementation;
* Critically appraise existing practice guidelines that
may be of interest to members of the CCCS;
* Identify systematic reviews of topics in critical care
medicine that may be ready for translation into practice
guidelines;
* Develop new practice guidelines for members of the CCCS
using a systematic process;
* Develop and advise on strategies to facilitate implementation
of practice guidelines in the critical care setting;
* Develop and advise on methods to evaluate the effect of
practice guidelines on important process and outcome measures
in the critical care setting
