Royal College Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Accreditation

Process & How To Apply

Step 1. Review the CCCS accreditation guideline(s) pertaining to the type of MOC credits for which you are applying.

Step 2. Download and complete the application form.

Plan to apply at least 12 weeks prior to the event to ensure that there is sufficient time for both the accreditation review and event promotion. Credits cannot be advertised prior to the approval. Application packages submitted four weeks from the start date of the program may be rejected. With exception, the application package may be reviewed as a rush and an expedited accreditation fee will be applied.

Step 3. Gather all supporting documents and label them correctly.

Refer to the checklist for the required documents.

Each item is to be sent as its own attachment, clearly named, and numbered.  For example: “4. Budget_ABCMeeting2025”. Acceptable document formats include Word (.doc/.docx); PDF (.pdf); Excel (.xls/.xlsx).

Step 4. Review the application fee.

Review the accreditation fee structure to determine the applicable review fee that must accompany your application. We accept EFT, credit cards, cheques or e-transfers. Please note that accreditation will not be finalized until payment is received. An invoice will be provided to you after you register (step 5).

Step 5. Submit your application form & accompanying documents.

Submit your completed applications, including all accompanying documentation as listed in the application form by registering hereEnsure you attach the application checklist, completed application form, and separate PDFs for each section of the supporting documents

Please advise the CCCS office promptly if you do not receive receipt of submission within 72 hours of submission.

Step 6. Wait for accreditation results.

After we review your application, a summary of the application review will be emailed to the physician organization including the outcome of the assessment of the CPD activity.

If your event is not approved for accreditation, the chair of the Scientific Planning Committee and the contact person will be emailed a feedback form from us.

If your event is approved for accreditation, the chair of the Scientific Planning Committee and the contact person will be emailed a letter of approval stating the number of accredited hours, and the CPD activity accreditation statement that must appear on all accredited CPD activity program materials and certificates of participation. The CCCS Office will notify the RCPSC of your accredited event.

The Canadian Critical Care Society (CCCS) is the National Specialty Society, representing Adult and Paediatric Critical Care Medicine physicians in Canada. The practice of Critical Care Medicine in Canada is multidisciplinary and CCCS members hold base specialty certification in anaesthesia, medicine, paediatrics, emergency medicine or surgery and some surgical subspecialties such as cardiac surgery and neurosurgery.
